You've chosen happiness.Great choice! What does happiness mean to you?
To me this is where you chose happiness every day in your life, whether it be being relaxed, confident, successful, loved or just happy to face the day and ready to face whatever life can throw at you.
Let's look back at the sat nav idea
I spent a lot of years complaining about my life and not doing anything about it. I was unhappy with my financial situation, felt like things were always going wrong and unhappy with my work and work/life balance. You know how it is when you feel like you are just managing to gain a little headway in to your debts and a huge bill crops up out of nowhere? Or when you seem to work all the hours god sends and cut down on spending as much as possible and still have no money left? I've been there, done that and "got the t shirt". I spent over a decade in a job I didn't like, got stress related injuries and illnesses and, even with two jobs, struggled to keep up.

Let's look back at the sat nav idea
- First you need to know where you are going eg. England . DONE
- Second you need to refine your location eg. South West DONE
- Third. refine further eg Plymouth (so is it relaxation, self confidence, love or success you crave?)
- Fourth. Guess what? yep keep going eg House number/name and street. (Be able to relax in stressful situations, speak to a large audience, meet the partner you've dreamed of - what they are like, to acheive a life long goal )

So I searched for a way out, I looked for ways to improve my life and this is what I have found out so far.
See this quote, it's the only way to improve your life. it is said that the definition of insanity is trying the same thing time and time again and expecting different results. You are reading this now for a reason. You want change so follow the advice in the picture, start doing things differently. Make the leap! I'm not saying quit your job, move to a different country and live in the woods. As I say above you need to have a goal and head towards it. If the only way to make the first step is to quit your job and work two part time jobs that you enjoy then do it. I did. |
There are a few ways to approach "being happy" I will go through some of the things that I have looked at. They don't all work for me so I have looked at options and chosen those that "feel right". You must do that too. If is something you can't feel passionate about, you won't stick to it. These changes you make must be for life or you will fail.
Let's start with relaxation
I have chosen this first because stress can blind you from your path and can make you ill, as I found out, over long periods. I know what a lot of you are thinking, this is all going to be about meditation and getting in tune with the universe. It's not. Well not all of it. As I said different things work for different people so I'll give you a taster of a few.
You are going to have to leave your comfort zone to give some of these things a try. Or you haven't made a leap.
You will find them strange to grasp or try. But if they work you'll be glad you did.
You can try these in your own time but try them.
Start now. The first thing to look at is your mindset. I have included a free book about this in my subscription emails.
You may have heard of this before, it is how you see the world.

Let me give you an example, yes I'm using driving again - I drive a lot, about traffic lights. Here's the scene you have to get from A to B and there are 4 sets of lights, they change from red to green and back every 15 minutes. Normally you travel along this road at a reasonable rate a little bit fast in places, you notice your going a bit fast and drive a little bit slow in others and you find some green lights and some red. No problem.
Another day you are late. PANIC. This time you race to the first light in 14 minutes, it's still red. OK so you decide that it's ok you can make up the time. You get to the next one in 13 minutes, red again, then the next one in 12 minutes, red again, now you are REALLY getting stressed. You have probably been shouting at the other drivers or banging the steering wheel, been checking the time ( a lot). You go even faster and you get to the light in 10 and a half minutes just after it changes to red. WORST DAY EVER! |
Now picture this, you are on holiday and have all the time you need so you keep to the speed limit and get to each light in 15 minutes just after it changes to green. BEST DAY EVER.
It wasn't that the "world was against you" in scenario two or that you've "done something wrong" to be in that situation. The lights changed at same rate all day, the difference was you and your mindset. The truth about being a little bit late is that 90% of the time it isn't the end of the world. I think some of you were thinking that you might just risk it and go through the red light. But what if you got caught? Then what? You may end up losing a lot more. The holiday is the time when you relax, you start to notice the things around you in the present moment, like the speed you are travelling, and notice that it's a nice day and feel great about the good things that are happening right now, like the green lights.
This is important. On a normal day you are normally thinking about something that happend in the past or about things that could happen in the future. You are distracted by it and miss the good things (green lights and opportunities) and blot out some bad things (red lights and failures).
" I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work"
You need to take some time to yourself and appreciate the present moment. It allows you to see what you are missing.
Some choose to do this through meditation for hours at a time. Some just stop for 5 minutes and "just be", stop thinking about what is going to happen and what has happened, clear your mind. Watch the world around you as if you were looking through a window or watching a TV or simply close your eyes for a moment, your choice. Let your body relax and your breathing and heart rate slow down, let any thoughts go past like joke texts, quickly check them then put them away for later. Smile and feel happy. No really. Try smiling or laughing for no reason right now see how you feel.

- Those opportunities may have been your way to a better life, money making opportunites, special deals on holidays, somebody checking you out on a night out even.
- Those failures were telling you that you were doing something wrong and need to change what you tried before. Thomas Edison spent a lot of time working on the light bulb, before he succeeded he said this...
" I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work"
